Chico

Chico is a 7-year-old Bull Terrier/JRT mix who has been in foster care for some time now.  He is a very healthy, strong and energetic dog.  Chico is neutered and up to date on all shots.  He is a very lovable and loyal dog towards his foster family.   His favorite activity is playing ball which he will do for hours if you let him!  Chico gets along with other stable, well-mannered dogs.  He can be a bit food aggressive so we feed him in his crate.  We do not allow him to share toys or balls with the other dogs in the home.

His personality at play is best described as a linebacker in a dog suit!  Chico is not good around cats and he will require a fully fenced in yard when outside.  He can’t use a radio collar electronic fence since he has already been trained to use an e-collar.  Chico requires at least 30 minutes of exercise daily but he will certainly play for longer periods of time if you let him!  He sleeps well in his crate at night.  Due to his physical strength, we don’t recommend him for a home with young children.  He can be very protective of his family when strangers are around.  He does take time to warm up to new people.  If you would like to make Chico the newest member of your family, please contact MAJR and complete an application at www.majr .org.

Princeton Pee Wee

Princeton and Pee Wee

Princeton and Pee Wee are a bonded pair who were surrendered to ACCT in Philly in February 2016.  These sweet boys are Jack Russell/Chinese Crested mix (which accounts for what was thought to have been hair loss) and they are currently being fostered in the suburbs of Philly.

They are neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. This bonded pair gets along with cats and dogs and they love to go on walks (they are great on leash).  They are love bugs and enjoy playing and giving kisses and snuggling with humans or each other.  In fact, when you see one of them, the other is bound to be very close by!

Princeton is 8 years old and is the smaller/shorter of the two. He has more body hair than Pee Wee, with black and white markings on his back.  Princeton weighs about 20 pounds and takes phenobarbital for seizure disorder (with medication, he has been seizure free without any issue).  Pee Wee is 9 years old and weighs about 21 pounds.  He is the taller of the two and has much less body hair than Princeton.  These boys have lived their entire lives together so we want them to stay together. There will be a discounted rate for the adoption fee.

Please consider adding this dynamic duo to your family!  You won't regret it.

Please contact MAJR at majrinc@gmail.com for more information.

Patches

Patches

Please meet Patches. He is about 2 years old and was an owner surrender from Maryland. He was surrendered because he wasn't behaving or listening. Funny thing is he probably couldn't hear to obey. Although we haven't done a BAER test on Patches, we think he can hear a little bit but not a lot.

Patches lives happily with 7 other dogs of different sizes and ages (including an intact male) and one old cat. He sleeps in the bed (and under the covers). He will play with other dogs for brief periods and his foster every once in a while but he tends to a loner.

Patches likes to be around people but he has not shown himself to be a very affectionate dog. He likes to be petted and to cuddle but there are times when he would prefer to just be close without being touched and will let his people know which he prefers. Because Patches has strong bite inhibition, he has not broken skin but he will look scary and he will nip if you don't listen.

Patches loves to go for walks but he does not to well in crowds and with strangers. He doesn't do well in situations where there is a lot of movement around him and situations he doesn't understand. He would not be good with children or senior citizens.  Patches is also a tail chaser . We have been working to resolve this habit and he is much better . He can also be crate aggressive. He will growl and lunge at the crate door . Since he is housebroken, there is not much need to crate.

Patches needs a special owner who understands the challenges presented to deaf dogs and one who is willing to support him without enabling with fear. He will do best with a quiet private person looking for a companion to go for walks and just have another being in the house. Because he is not good with strangers , whoever adopts Patches will need to be willing to give him several weeks for him to find his way and adjust to his new home and new schedules. He will also need someone familiar with alternative medicine to help with his tail chasing and fears. Patches has not done well with conventional medicine but is reacting really well to homeopathy, herbs and a mostly raw diet.

I know Patches doesn't sound perfect but he is a great little dog now that he is better balanced mentally and we understand his body language. If you are willing to give him a chance and time, he will be a great companion.

If you'd like to offer Patches a forever home, please apply contact us.

Riley

Riley

Riley is a precious, lovable Jack Russell mix. He is neutered, up to date on his shots and in very good health. He is a playful 6-7 yr. old dog and full of a contagious joy!

Prior to living with his professional trainer, Riley got along great with the small dogs and cat in his previous foster home. Riley is very polite when company comes and is good with children. He loves everyone he meets! His basic obedience skills are strong and he learned very fast in his foster home. For the last six weeks, Riley has been with a professional trainer every day and has proved to be an excellent student. Riley's trainer is his current foster and he will provide support for an adopter so that all of Riley's accomplishments can be appreciated and enjoyed every day. His first foster is also available to give support and talk about Riley’s preferences and activities that he loves.

Riley likes to take walks and rides in the car, he loves his stuffies and thrives in a fenced yard to play and chase whatever moves. He is a very special dog with so much love and joy in his heart. If you think you could give Riley the love and home that he needs, please fill out an adoption application. Riley's trainer has done an excellent job of teaching Riley to handle stress. Below are a few important words from his trainer.

“The handler, owner or foster I would like to have for him has to be structured, be willing to exercise a clear form of communication for him, a clear non-threatening leadership and above all else give him a happy non-stressed environment. I think Riley placed with a well versed handler that knows what to do in preventative maintenance will not have a problem handling him. I will be willing to give this person clear advice.”

Lucy Bean

Lucy Bean

Lucy Bean is a 13 year old Jack Russell mix. She is a petite girl only weighing 11 pounds. Lucy Bean lost her home when her only owner went into a nursing home. She ended up in a high kill shelter in Williamsburg Virginia. Lucy Bean gets along well with other dogs and cats. She loves everyone including children. Lucy is deaf and almost blind so I don't recommend young children around her. She requires eyedrops daily for chronic dry eye. She is up-to-date on all of her shots, microchipped and on heartworm prevention.

Lucy suffers from separation anxiety. She sleeps in bed with her foster mom, and sleeps through the night. There is nothing she loves more than being with her person. Because of her age, she needs to go out more often then a younger dog. The ideal home for Lucy would be a stay at home mom, someone who works from home, or a retired person. Lucy loves to go on car rides. She walks great on a leash. She loves to go shopping when the stores allow her to go in. She's just a wonderful little dog that is full of love.

Lucy Bean does not like to be crated at all, she has panic attacks when put into the crate. She is the perfect lapdog that would love a forever home. If you think Lucy Bean is the right dog for you, please fill out MAJR's Adoption form.

Witherspoon

Witherspoon

Miss Witherspoon ("Reece") is a ten year old JRT who found herself without a home over the holidays when her family discovered she has diabetes. Reece's diabetic needs are very simple and inexpensive. She is now on 3 units of insulin twice daily and doing extremely well! She is super good for her shots! We have her eating 4 Health lower carb canned food from Tractor Supply 2x daily (1/2 can 2x daily) and her weight is now perfect. She loves pieces of fruit and veggies as occasional healthy treats. Reece is such a sweet sweet girl! She prefers to be near us at all times and either lays quietly at our feet or follows us from room to room as we go about our day. She has a funny playful side and will go from a quiet snuggle to bounding around the room with a ball. She barked at our cats when she first arrived as if she had never seen one before but never aggressively. Now they all hang out with no issues. She plays outside with the kids, following them around. She loves to ride in the car but hates to be kenneled, preferring to be buckled in like one of the kids! She would be a fabulous girl for someone who is home a lot as she loves to be near us and tries to go out to the car when we are preparing to leave for the day. She wants to go too! Reece is available for adoption through Mid Atlantic Jack Rescue

Bingo

Bingo

Bingo is a 10-12 year old neutered male Jack Russell who lost his home due to personality issues with a new family member. He is up to date on shots, housebroken and crate trained. After some initial growing pains, Bingo is getting along with the other dogs in his foster home. He has no food or toy aggression. Bingo is very friendly with anyone he meets and enjoys being scratched and stroked and is beginning to want to play a bit. He has some lumps on his body but they have been biopsied and found not to be cancerous. Bingo does not jump up like most Jacks nor does he get on furniture or beds. Though he would probably be happiest in a home as an only dog, he would be able to cohabitate with another small dog.

If you’d like to make Bingo your newest family member, please contact MAJR.

Nexxus

Nexxus

Nexxus is a 10-12 year old female Jack Russell, housebroken. She is an adorable older gal with plenty of energy. She reminds us of a cartoon dog—the way she moves and runs about when excited. She loves being outside, going for leash walks, swimming and sitting in the sun. She has even started doing some agility – enjoying small jumps and the A Frame. Nexxus loves to sit with you while watching TV and at night all you have to do is cover her with a blanket and she is fast asleep. She is cautious when meeting new people but once she is comfortable with someone and they scratch her stomach she will be your friend for life. She will tolerate being in a crate as long as she has a kong! She's been around older children with no issues but I think at her age would prefer a quieter life. Nexxus can be a little toy aggressive if around other dogs so though she lives with other dogs now, this is something to keep in mind. Won't you consider adding Nexxus to your family?

Lucky

Lucky

Hello, my name is Lucky. I am a 5 year old, male Jack Russell Terrier. I am up to date on my shots and I am in good health. I love to go for car rides with my foster mom. I get along great with cats, but prefer not to be around other dogs. If I see other dogs, I usually bark, get very excited, and try to catch up to them wherever they are. I also enjoy chasing squirrels and rabbits. After a full day of excitement, I sleep peacefully the whole night through. If you'd like to make me part of your family, you won't regret it!

Norton

Norton

Norton is an approximately 5 year old neutered JRT mix.He is likely mixed partly with Whippet / Greyhound. He is almost 20 pounds and resembles more of a Parson’s Jack. Although his coat is similar to a smooth coated Jack, he appears not to shed anywhere near as much.He is also not an incessant barker like Jack’s can be. Norton is a sweet, joyful and playful guy who gets along well with all people and he loves other dogs. His reaction to cats is unknown. Norton would do best in an active household. He would love siblings or other dog siblings. An ideal situation would be a fenced yard and parent(s) who love to go on walks or hikes. He is great on a leash. Norton loves to fetch balls and would likely enjoy catching Frisbees or possibly some agility training. Norton loves to please. He enjoys his activity but is a great cuddle-bug and sleeps well through the night. Norton would make a great addition to a family that doesn’t want to deal with the puppy stage but still wants an energetic, playful pup.

Opal

Opal

Opal was picked up as a stray and taken to the Lancaster County SPCA, and according to their records, she is a Jack Russell mix approximately 10 years of age. MAJR took her into foster care at the beginning of July 2017

She is tall - 14" at the withers. Her scruffy coat is white with tan markings on her face and ears. There are a few very small tan spots sprinkled here and there on her body as well. She is heartworm negative and up-to-date on her shots. She has some clouding in her eyes and seems as though she may be a little hard of hearing. Neither of these seems to bother her much, though.

She is currently living with two other dogs and two cats and gets along fine with them all. She loves mealtime but is a very dainty eater. Opal also adores treats! She is very sweet and is a pretty good couch potato. She does get a little playful occasionally, especially when we go out in the yard.

She isn't a barker but will make little "yip" sounds when she wants something (like getting out of her crate or coming in from outside) and if she is startled. Opal is waiting for her forever home...could that be you?

Butter

Butter

Butter is one of three male pups rescued from Mississippi at six weeks old. Their initial fare was euthanasia as they were born with a congenital condition know as Ichthyosis or in layman terms fishscale which is a skin disorder. Breeders don't want puppies with this condition because they of course can't sell them. It is a condition caused from inappropriate breeding.

Born April 17,2017 Butter is now ready for adoption. He is a happy pup with lots of love to give and full of energy. This little guy loves everyone he meets. He is your typical Jack He gets along with all dogs as he is living with five other jacks that he runs and plays with. Other than having dry flaky skin he is a very normal happy puppy. However he needs to go to a home that is willing to provide extra care. He would need to get a bath every other day with medicated shampoo. The days in between he would need a body rinse. They would require brushing every day. He also requires antibiotics every other day as part of the maintenance plan. Accutane is a drug that he can possibly be put on when he is 1-year-old. Accutane is supposed to work miracles regarding to this condition. He is too small at this time only weighing 5 pounds.

The veterinarians have actually never seen this condition in person. It has only been through textbooks. So everything we have done has been an experiment, and it's working. He is and always will be a special-needs dog. However this condition can be maintained for a very low cost per month. He is not neutered at this point due to recommendations by the veterinarian. He can be done at one-year-old. He is up-to-date on all of his vaccines.

Butter is waiting for his forever home. Are you that special person?

Betty Eddie

Betty Eddie. "Eddie"

Meet Betty Eddie. "Eddie" is around 8 or 10 years old. She was a stray at the Berks Cnty SPCA. She is a jack mix (part maybe Italian Greyhound, part some kind of hound). She weighs maybe 10 to 15 lbs. She has a pretty low energy level and would much prefer a sofa to a vigorous walk. Eddie is housebroken as long as the weather is mild or her person is outside. She is spayed, UTD on her shots, HW negative.... Eddie is good with other dogs , ok with cats as long as they ignore her, good with kids. She is a perfect lady.

On a leash on a walk she walks at a perfect heel or behind ( really not into exercise...). Eddie would probably do best in a quiet home with someone home most of the time. I think she'd like to be the only dog though a quiet cat or dog would be fine. Eddie is very loyal and loving to her human. She will be a wonderful companion dog . Whoever adopts her will be a very lucky person. She is available for adoption to an approved adopter through Mid-Atlantic Jack Rescue.

Fergie

Fergie

Fergie is a sweet and petite 8 year old JRT who found herself in a shelter just before Christmas. Not a good place to be for a girl who is obviously used to the good life. Her favorite place to be is in your lap or by your side. She is primarily housebroken, but for safety's sake is crated while we are away. You may notice a milky eye, which is a cataract. She can see with her other eye, so she compensates. Fergie is great around other dogs and with her mild demeanor, I imagine she would also tolerate a cat. She truly is a precious pup.

Bentley

Bentley

Please meet Bentley! He is 9 yo, a jack russell mix (we think with Rat Terrier) with lots of love and loyalty to share! He is a little nervous in new situations but once he feels secure, he is much better. He would be fine with another dog (probably a female would be best) as he wants to be dominant. He is with 4 other dogs right now - 3 girls and 1 male - does ok. He loves his walks, is a great running partner, loves to chase squirrels but am not sure how he'd be around cats as I don't have any. He is fine with a 10 yo child that is good with dogs but shouldn't be around small children as they are to "busy" for him and he gets defensive. He is UTD on shots, is neutered, microchipped and cute as can be!

Spots

Spots

Spots is a sweet senior 8-9 years old who loves to play with toys and cuddle with his people. Good with other dogs and doesn't mind cats but wants to be the most loved. Spot will do well being an only dog but will do well with other dogs. Spot was with his previous owner his entire life and is looking for his forever home.

Rocky

Rocky

Hi...my name is Rocky and I am looking for my forever home. I am 1 1/2 years old. I'm neutered, chipped and UTD on all my shots. I will need to go to an ADULT ONLY home because Im not very good with kids. I am ok with other dogs if they are nice to me but I do react if they arent so maybe I would do best as an only child. I love playing with ALL my toys, going for rides and most of all being with my person. I love to snuggle and be close to my foster Mom. So if you are looking for a new best friend maybe I can fill the position...Love Rocky ??

Chrissie

Chrissie

If you are searching for treasure , stop looking. strong>Chrissie is your gem. strong>Chrissie is about 4 or 5 years old. She's about 15" at the shoulders and weighs about 35 lbs. She is spayed and UTD on her shots. She is also heart worm negative. We don't know a lot about strong>Chrissie's past. She is a puppy mill survivor. Before she was rescued she had several litters . Although she is with a Jack Russell Rescue we can be flexible and take the worthy wannabe. strong>Chrissie has a giving personality. She is loving and kind very much wants to make those around her happy. She is not playful but she enjoys the company of other dogs and humans. She is good with children though, as with most dogs, she is no aware of her size. strong>Chrissie deserves a loving home. She deserves to be cherished as a family member. She has a full heart to share.

Murphy

Murphy

How can you resist this face!! This is Murphy. He’s only 7 ½ years young. He’s a dashing Jack mix who came to MAJR when his owner could no longer care for him.

He is the picture of good health. He is current on his shots and neutered. Murphy is a perfect gentleman and wouldn’t dream of having an “accident” in his or any home. When he needs to go out and perform his business, he goes to the door and does his pee-pee dance (lots of bouncing and spinning).

Murphy is a social butterfly. He loves humans. He may need a moment to warm up but overall, he hasn’t met a human he doesn’t like. He’s also a big family man. He likes to be with his humans and prefers not to be alone for long periods of time. He’s looking for a family that wants him with them as much as he wants to be with them. A retired or work from home mom or dad would be GREAT, he says.

Murphy likes games. He plays a gentle tug-of-war but he is a fetch connoisseur and will need a human who can match him throw for retrieve regardless of tennis ball or squeaky toy.

Murphy likes other dogs though he’s never been asked to live with another dog. He hasn’t lived with children either so probably children over 7 would be best for his home. Cats are fun to chase and terrorize but not so much fun otherwise.

Overall Murphy is a real catch. Not only is he amazingly cute. He will keep your throwing arm well exercised and will be a wonderful addition to any family (or person) that wants a dog as a constant companion.

Murphy is available through Mid-Atlantic Jack Rescue inc.

Juney

Juney

Juney is our beautiful white girl. She is one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet. She goes through life sharing her happiness and silliness with everyone because she likes to talk all about it with her little yoddle.

She is only about 5 ½ to 6 years old, spayed, HW negative and UTD on her shots . She is housebroken as well. She would be wonderful in a home that will take her for walks but not ask her to be super active to She’d describe herself as couch cosmopolitan. Juney is probably not a Jack . She looks like a white Rat Terrier but we’re ok with that because she is so sweet.

Juney is great with other dogs and cats and loves children. She doesn’t play with other dogs or children but she’s a great cuddler. She prefers to sleep in bed and under the overs at night.

Juney does have a delicate stomach. She needs to be kept on pretty much of a fish diet. Although her food allergy has gotten better with age, she still needs to be careful because Juney loves to eat and will do so all day if given the opportunity.

Juney is a rescue favorite because of her quiet loving spirit .

Murphy

Murphy

Meet Murphy a/k/a Murphy’s Law!  He is a JRT from Ireland and is 10 years old.  Murphy is still intact and the vet says that he is too old to have the neuter surgery at this point.  He is a very loyal dog who loves to go for long walks and play catch with his squeaky toys.  Don’t let the number fool you as Murphy certainly doesn’t act his age!  Murphy also enjoys car rides where he loves to wear his seatbelt!  At this time, Murphy is in need of a loving family who will give him the unconditional love and attention he needs and deserves.  Murphy is micro chipped and up to date on shots.  He would do best as the only dog.  If you would like to make him part of your family, please call Lois at 908-638-8344.

MAJR hopes for a happy ending for this pup, but is not responsible for it's actions or the actions of it's owners.

Spice

Spice

Spice is looking for a new home due to a change in her current family’s living situation.  She is a 3-year-old Jack Russell/Australian Cattle Dog mix weighing about 26 lbs.  She is very sweet and needs someone who can give her the time and attention she deserves!

Spice loves to go for walks, loves the dog park and has even gone on bike rides so she’d be ideal for someone who is active!  She is spayed, up to date on shots, housebroken and crate trained.  Spice gets along well with dogs her size or smaller but can be a bit intimidated by dogs much larger than her.  She even likes cats but she likes to play with them as if they were dogs too so she might be a little too rough for some felines.  Spice would do best in a home with older kids (10 and older) due to her energy level.

If you’d like to make Spice the newest addition to your family, please contact Cathy at cathyL65@aol.com or you can call/text at 347-803-9044.  Spice is located in Metuchen, NJ.

Camden

Camden aka "Cam"

Camden aka "Cam" is a 15-month-old JRT who is very energetic, with lots of love and loyalty to give. He is neutered and up to date on all shots and he is crate trained. His favorite things are chewing on bones for hours and laying on top of his human’s chest all snuggled up. Last summer, Camden began to show a little aggression towards other animals and some guests that came to our home. He is great with our two children and other dog but has become very overprotective of our home and us. Camden also has had some submissive urination issues. Due to his aggressiveness and submissive urination issues, we enrolled him in 12 weeks of obedience classes. He knows basic commands, however his aggressive behavior and episodes of submissive urination continue and we are not in a position to enroll him in more specialized training at this time. Rehoming Cam is a very hard decision for our family to make, but because we do not have a fence, we are worried that Camden will accidentally get out and harm someone or another animal. Cam deserves a family who can give him the training and attention he needs. He should also have a fenced in yard where he does not have to be tied up, so he can run and expel his energy. Cam is located in Shrewsbury PA and if you’d like to offer him a forever home, please contact Erica Bettleyon at 410-982-1767 or ebettleyon@gmail.com.

Archer

Archer

Meet Archer- a 4 year old, neutered, house broken, well trained jack! He comes from a loving family, but he has made it clear he needs a child free home. He plays well with larger and smaller breeds, but is not a good fit for homes with cats. His favorite activity is chase, but loves a good game of tug and going on long walks and hikes. He is typically over-excited at the start of his walks but finds his pace after a few minutes. He's a graduate of his puppy and obedience courses. Archer loves snuggling on the couch, and burrowing under the covers at night. He's takes his role as a watch dog seriously, and happily alerts if he hears anything suspicious at night. If you'd like to adopt Archer, please contact Jonathan at jonathanrevere@gmail.com.

Hogart

Hogart

Meet Hogart a 1.5 year old energetic Jack Russell mix. Hogart originally came to us from our local high kill shelter as a stray who was terrified and protective of himself. Since being at the shelter, he has made many friends with staff but highly protective of his human friends. If Hogart feels his friends are in danger, he does the noble thing and protects them. Hogart needs a home who understands the breed and how they think. He is dog selective and prefers females or to just be the only pet. Hogart also enjoys belly rubs and grooming with his favorite people. Hogart is located at one of the SPCA locations in Florida and if you'd like to provide him a forever home, please contact Rudie at bfox@spcaflorida.org or by phone at 863-581-7223.

Marshmallow

Marshmallow

Marshmallow is an 8 year-old deaf jack russell terrier. She’s about 29 pounds currently, but should be closer to 18-20. Marshmallow is a very sweet, smart girl. She does well with other dogs (though she doesn’t play), and has lived with cats and small children. Marshmallow has separation anxiety that will require a lot of training, time, and patience. She would do best in a home where you work from home or are retired. She is a very smart girl; she knows hand signals for sit, lay down, and high five. Marshmallow is very affectionate, loves to have her ears rubbed, and is very food motivated. She is house trained. Up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative, and spayed. Located in DC. For more information contact nic.rusinack@gmail.com. Marshmallow is a courtesy post. She is not with MAJR. If you are interested in adopting her, please contact her owner at the above email.
